Generally, anyone can edit pages on Povo including anonymous visitors and registered members. From time to time, if someone is abusing the site (such as an automated spambot) we will block certain IP Addresses from editing pages on Povo. Also, if you edit too many pages in too short a time, we will stop future edits just in case you are actually a spambot. If either of these things happens to you, and you are not in fact a computer program, please accept our apologies and contact us.
There are some "special pages" on Povo that only certain people can edit. As a short guide:
  • If you want a page anyone can view and anyone can edit, use the [/?new|Add Page] tool.
  • If you want a page anyone can view but only you can edit, use your Member namespace
  • If you want a page anyone can view buy only a group of people can edit, use Zines.

Member Pages

Anybody who registers as a Povo Member gets a Namespace all to themselves. So if you register as Member:djMax, any page that starts with Member:djMax is only editable by you. We plan to add many more templates that can be used on your member page to control what you share with other people (think badges, except with all the on-site customization that Povo provides).

Special Member Pages

There are a few special subpages under Member that have slightly different rules. We'll use djMax as the example member.
  1. Anything that begins with Member:djMax/Private are only viewable and editable by djMax.
  2. Anything that begins with Member:djMax/Friends is only viewable and editable if djMax has put you on his friends list.
  3. Anything that begins with Member:djMax/Shared/Hasty is only viewable and editable by djMax and Hasty.

Zines

Zines allow you to create a set of pages that a group of people can edit and/or view. You can control who is a member of the group, and who can invite other members. To start a Zine, just create a page and put the name of your group after "Zine:", such as Zine:Povo Staff. If the group does not exist yet, you can make it and invite people.
We haven't fully integrated Zines into the site, but we plan to build out the features in the coming months.
